Suspended PDP State Chairman, Sulaiman, Mobbed, Beaten
Alhaji Y. Yunusa Suleiman, chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, FCT, was in the early hours of Saturday, party convention day, handed a raw deal.
Agitated party faithfuls at the Wadata Plaza, party secretariat of the PDP descended on the party chieftain who, according to reports, was under suspension. He was beaten by irate mob and was almost lynched before some security men whisked him away.
Trouble started for Sulaiman at the party headquarters when he introduced himself at the headquarters as chairman, hoping to get accreditation. Party members descended on him calling him names. He was accused of defrauding the party.
Sulaiman, according to reports, was a former taxi driver who later rose to be party chairman. While his fortunes improved, the party lost all elective positions in the FCT.
