Liberian authorities say they plan to prosecute Thomas Eric Duncan, 42, the man infected with Ebola, who brought the disease to the United States, for lying to the airport authorities, according to The Associated Press.

The chairman of the board of directors of the Liberia Airport Authority, Binyah Kesselly, told reporters Thursday, 2 September 2014 that the 42-year-old Liberian citizen had answered “no” to the question on the Airport health questionnaire and will, therefore, face prosecution whenever he returns to Liberia.

The New York Times reported Wednesday, 1 October 2014 that Duncan “had direct contact with a woman stricken by Ebola on Sept. 15, just four days before he left Liberia for the United States.”

The 42-year-old Liberian citizen, who is still in serious condition at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Dallas, is the first person to be diagnosed with Ebola in the United States. And it was Duncan’s first trip to America.

The first confirmed case of Ebola in Nigeria was also brought by a Liberian-American Patrick Sawyer. XCLUSIVE Magazine reported on 19 September 2014 that an American doctor had described the slow response to the Ebola outbreak in West Africa by the international community as racism.
