Daylight Robbery Suspect Caught in Lagos

It seems the city of Lagos is still in the bondage of petty thieves and pick pockets. Who prey on unsuspecting and innocent citizens daily to meet their own ends, making many cry after being assaulted by their ‘roaming’ fingers.
Xclusive Magazine stumbled on an incident early this Thursday morning at about 11:25am at Iyana Ipaja garage while going about our daily business. A naïve and inexperienced person would never have suspected the young man of robbery.
According to passengers who were on the same bus with this suspected criminal, he boarded the bus that was going to Agege from Iyana Ipaja, sat calmly beside an unsuspecting passenger and even chatted the Alhaji up during the course of the journey.
Unknown to the Alhaji, this guy had picked N31000 from his pocket. Unfortunately for the suspect, the bus broke down just before going on the bridge, hence everyone scampered down including the suspect and the victim. Just then did the victim touch his pocket to be sure his money was intact. Alas, his money was gone and before he could cry for help, he noticed our guy trying to run…that was it, they held him down while he protested shouting ‘Kilode, Kilode’ meaning ‘what have I done’
And that was the scene your darling Xclusive Magazine stumbled on, and our journalistic instincts took over and we waited and asked questions. Needless to say, the money was found in his pocket and the torture started.
Trust Lagos thugs who love to torture suspected thieves even though they can’t be trusted either, slaps landed from different angles while the Alhaji (who told us he had just collected the money from a client and was on his way to buy some car spare parts) counted his money and insisted that one was missing! His trousers were pulled off and his pants searched for the missing money.
When it was getting unbearable to watch, we had to summon a police officer who called some others and took him away but not before he lost some blood and a tooth!
It’s sad, so sad, the guy looked so responsible and even had a hand band that screamed ‘RCCG’. May God help us and may the government support God!
