The PDP released a statement to this effect through its Publicity Secretary, Kehinde Salawu, and pointedly urged Abiola Ajimobi, who is on his second consecutive term as governor of the state, to embrace the principle of probity and accountability by telling the world how much he was worth before becoming the governor of the state in 2011 and now, after four years in office as governor.

“Our party, the PDP, takes this opportunity to congratulate the governor on his inauguration for another term in office. Knowing the nature of the office he occupies, we pray to God to grant him the wisdom to lead the state.

“However, the people of the state have been waiting on the governor to follow the path of honour by declaring his assets. The public will be interested in the governor’s assets for the purpose of transparency and accountability.

It is the honourable thing to do and the PDP is quite sure that the governor will follow that path and make an open declaration soon,” the statement reads.

Making references to the resolve of the APC to fight corruption and curb misuse and embezzlement of state funds, the PDP challenged Ajimobi to declare his assets because of his party’s promise to fight corruption.

PDP at the same time restated its own resolve to keep the governor on his toes and lead the people’s charge for good governance in the state.
