Though he lamented that other orientation camps across the country in similar state, he was particularly piqued at the level of dilapidation in Kwara.

The DG voiced his displeasure during a recent visit at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Yikpata, Edu Local Government of Kwara. “The Camp is a Constitutional provision, but the State Governments are not doing what the Constitution says, this is very bad,” he added.

Speaking further, Gen Kazaure said he was at the camp to see the condition of infrastructure, but lamented that what he saw was nothing to write home about.

“I have gone round the camp, visited the hostels and other buildings, many of them are dilapidated, they are in bad shapes,” Gen Kazaure stated of Yikpata.

According to the DG, it is the duty of State Governments to provide and maintain NYSC camps in their various states. The DG said that what he saw at the Yikpata camp takes the cake in dilapidation and was highly disappointing as the standard at the camp is far below the standard NYSC expected of an orientation camp.

Kazaure added that many State Governments have refused to fund the orientation camps in their states. “I Dont want to start mentioning names, but I know Kwara State Government has not be funding the camp,” the DG said.
