ImoDecides: And Okorocha Wins Again!

Incumbent Governor Rochas Owelle Okorocha of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has come out victorious again in the just concluded gubernatorial rerun elections in Imo state. The amiable governor who also defeated his People’s Democratic Party (PDP) counterpart in the April 11 polls has recorded another landslide victory according to the unofficial collated results, in a feat his Oyo ally Governor Abiola Ajimobi calls “the mandate of the people.”
The elections did not come without hitches as some arrests were made in allegations of poll manoeuvring, ballot printing, amongst other electoral frauds.
Senator Hope Uzodinma of the PDP, his elder brother and sister were arrested by the police at a private residence in Oru East Local Government area in Imo state for allegedly thumb-printing ballot papers meant for the governorship re-run election. The State police, however, released him on personal recognition but detained his family members.
Meanwhile, 5 Nigeria Independent National Electoral Commision (INEC) staff were also arrested in the same local government as they engaged in mass thumb-printing during the course of the voting.
The official declaration of the winner by INEC is expected to take place anytime soon, but as we speak, the Governor has started receiving congratulatory messages from friends, colleagues and supporters via Twitter.
