Ibori, Clark, others shun Okowa’s PDP stakeholders meeting
Former governor of Delta State, Chief James Onanefe Ibori and the Ijaw leader, Edwin Clark yesterday shunned the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) stakeholders meeting in Asaba as Governor Ifeanyi Okowa allegedly spent over N50 million of the Paris Club money to host the PDP stakeholders meeting.
XCLUSIVE MAGAZINE gathered that Chief Ibori was not comfortable and happy the way and manner Governor Okowa pilots the affairs of the party in the State. And had chosen to stay away from the PDP stakeholders meeting in protest. Also at the PDP stakeholders meeting, there was no massage from the Ijaw famous leader, excuse nor somebody representing him, showing that either he was not duly invited or he had deliberately shunned the meeting.
The purpose of the PDP stakeholders meeting that had the immediate past state Governor, Emmanuel Uduaghan in attendance, was to celebrate the victory of the Ahmed Makarfi led caretaker committee at the Supreme court. However, a top government functionary source who asked not to be identified spilling the beans on about internal government matter told XCLUSIVE MAGAZINE that Dr Okowa used part of the money to pay homage to the aggrieved leaders and members of the party ahead of 2019 general elections.
Apart from Ibori and Clark, Senator Peter Nwaoboshi, whose recent thanksgiving to mark his 60th birthday was described as the gathering of hyenas and jackals, was absent in the meeting. Other noticeably absentees included federal house of Representatives, state House of Assembly, notable political leaders, elders and majority of political appointees.
Dr. Okowa who frowned at the poor attendance by his appointees and other political office holders in the State imposed serious sanctions on them by directing the Secretary to the State Government to forward their three months impress, of which the amount per month ranges from N70,000 to over 100,000, to the state PDP Secretariat.
Governor Okowa said that the seized impress, which will be in the region of at least N210,000 per absent political appointee, would be spread across the 25 local government areas of PDP for the running of their offices in other to serve as a deterrent to others who may exhibit the same character.
