Okowa Deceiving Deltans with substandard roads
Delta State Governor, Ifeanyi Okowa is deceiving Deltans with the construction of sub-standard road across the state including the state capital with over bloated prices.
But in Ika ethnic nationality where he hails from, all the road projects being constructed are solid roads with stone base that will stand test of time.
Majority of the road projects that have completed and put to use were from the Ika ethnic nationality with perfect drainage system.
while the few road projects in other senatorial district even the state capital Governor Okowa has form the habit of 2km/3km road construction with local contractors doing shoddy road that will not stand a rainy season.
A resident in Warri, Mr. Johnson Otapo said all road projects approved for reconstruction especially Ovwian Main Road, Ovwian, Udu Local Government Area, Oporoza Palace Road in Oporoza, Warri South-West Local Government Area, and the rehabilitation of NPA By-Pass Road, from the new port to the old port gates, Warri, Warri South Local Government Area with few kilometres would still be Okowa’s usual way of building substandard road.
Mr. Otapo said even people of both Ndokwa and Ukwuani are protesting the reconstruction of Amai/Ezionum/Abbi Road which is the completion of Phase 111 of the project covering a distance of only 3.75 km between Ezionum and Abbi in Ukwuani and Ndokwa West Local Government Areas saying that the road must be constructed with a competent road construction company.
He also maintained that the rehabilitation and asphalt overlay of Nsukwa/Ejeme-Aniogor/Agbor-Alidinma/Owa-Alidinma/Ndemili Road in Aniocha South, Ndokwa West, Ika South and Ika North East Local Government Areas and the construction of Okurekpo/Okunoh-Okpara/Okoruah/Onumane/Samagidi Road in Ethiope East Local Government Area were “the more you look, the less you see”
“We know that in Ika area of the state where the governor Okowa hails from, all the road projects being constructed are solid roads with stone base that will stand test of time. Not only in the row construction, in the area of appointment, about 80 percent was from Ika”, he said.
