Okowa Couldn’t Pay Salaries, but Doled Out N14M Easter Bonanza

XCLUSIVE MAGAZINE also gathered from very reliable sources that despite the purported financial position of the State, Gov Okowa released fourteen million Naira to the Information Commissioner Mr Patrick Ukah for Easter gifts to principal officers and Aides. So while State workers are hungry, the governor’s principal staff and aides shared money and bags of rice to enable them have a joyous Easter celebration with their families and concubines.

A staff of the Delta State Broadcasting Service who spoke to XCLUSIVE MAGAZINE on condition of anonymity laments: “This Easter is the worst I will have in my many years of dedicated service to Delta State. We have not been paid salary to enable us have a good Easter with our family because the Government claims that there is no money.”

On assuming office on 29 May 2015, governor Okowa did raise alarm that he was saddled with over six hundred billion debt, now it appears that the State has completely crumble under the financial yoke, leaving the State workers are bearing the brunt all alone.

Many State civil servants are of the view that Gov Okowa is using the financial debt as alibi for the epileptic payment of salaries to Delta State workers, who are being owed some salary arrears.
