Charly Boy Led Resume or Resign Campaign Suspends Protest
Resume or Resign group of protesters led by maverick showbiz impresario, Charles Oputa, popularly called Charly Boy, says the group is putting the whole campaign on hold so as to Restrategise. He claims that members of the group have been receiving death threats.
The group, last week was tear-gassed by over zealous police men who alleged that hoodlums had infiltrated their ranks. They were also attacked yesterday by groups believed to be pro government leading to the lock down of Wuse Market in Abuja.
Charly Boy and his Resume or Resign group have been protesting against the continued stay of ailing President Muhammadu Buhari in London without clear explanations as to the cause of his illness for which he is being treated. The group asks the president to resume or resign his office.
Addressing journalists, the Leader of the group Charly Boy at the Unity Fountain said that the group decided to suspend the protest in order to re-strategise and have a wider plan on the activities of the movement noting that the group is not chickening out as a result of the attack on its members at wuse market .
He explained that their members have received death threat from various quarters but they are not deterred.
According to him, “We are not deterred by the intimidation and harassment by the sponsored thugs and we cannot be cowed by a few group of people. What government want to do is to ensure that we have a clash with the hired crowd and we will not allow that to happen.”
The group noted that a statement will be issued later in the day to tell Nigerians the next line of action.
