Beyoncé snubs Davido

Beyoncé to Davido: You’re not a Talented Artist

Beyoncé snubs Davido In her 14-track new album to accompany The Lion King remake, entitled The Lion King: The Gift, to be released on Friday.

Announcing the project last week, Beyoncé said: “It was important that the music was not only performed by the most interesting and talented artists but also produced by the best African producers. Authenticity and heart were important to me.”

Today, she reveals African collaborators for the new album. Numerous African artists appear on the album but there is no Davido. Apparently, Beyoncé is saying that Davido is not a “talented artist,” and not “authentic.” And to rob salt to an injury, Davido’s rival and archenemy, Whizkid, features in the Album. Other Nigerian artists who appear on the album are Tiwa Savage, Mr Eazi, Tekno, Yemi Alade and Nigeria’s Burna Boy.

In January this year, Burna Boy attacked Coachella over size of his name on poster, insisting: “I am an African giant and will not be reduced to whatever that tiny writing means.” Beyoncé thinks so too, and as an African Giant, she offers Burna Boy a solo track. The “African giant” has a track all to himself in Beyoncé’s album with Ja Ara E. While other African artists have to share.

Other African artists who also appear on the album are Ghana’s Shatta Wale, Cameroon’s Salatiel, South Africa’s Busiswa and Moonchild Sanelly.
