The poster and billboard vandalisation skirmishes in Aniocha North Delta State took a dangerous dimension on Friday as supporters of two House of Assembly candidates, Engr Emeka Nwaobi (People’s Democratic Party, PDP) and Mr Osy Okocha (Accord Party) clashed at Ukwunzu within the locality.

XCLUSIVE MAGAZINE investigations revealed that the fracas erupted when the supporters of the Accord Party candidate challenged the PDP candidate’s boys who were allegedly adept at vandalizing billboards and posters of opponents.

In the ensuing confrontation, the PDP supporters led by Anthony Okafor aka Boogie marched down to the residence of the Accord Party’s leader, Mr Azu I Wendy and vandalized it in addition to abducting his younger brother whom they cramped into the boot of a car and ferried to Mr Ikechukwu Uwagwu’s home. The Iwendi group thereafter sought the release of their member who was incarcerated in Mr Uwagwu’s residence, a development that led to the free for all fight that left three people injured.

Recall that the genesis of this ugly development is a fallout of the PDP House of Assembly Primaries in Aniocha North, where Mr Uzoma Idabor, the acclaimed winner of the primary election, was allegedly dubiously supplanted by Engr Emeka Nwaobi, who finished in a distant third position behind Mr Osy Okocha.

It could also be recalled that the Delta State Police Command recently alleged that it has a case of forgery against Engr Emeka Nwaobi in which he was arrested and has been charged to court on Thursday.
